This session will expose educators to some simple strategies for fostering self-care that could help them manage the stress that comes with being an educator. The information and activities in this session will allow participants to explore their inner lives, re-connect to personal and professional meaning and purpose, find balance and cultivate emotional intelligence. Teachers who model mindful practices can help students develop healthy coping strategies of thinking flexibly and listening and acting with empathy, both of which are skills highlighted on the CRCSD ‘Profile of a Graduate’.
Participants will be able to: identify stressors in their professional lives make connections between their own personal mindset and the dynamics of their classroom learn strategies for managing stress, including mindful breathing, movement and gratitude practices understand the science behind mindfulness and how it affects the brain/nervous system.
#40 – Displaying Objectivity and Control. Some of the suggested strategies include: self-reflection, self-monitoring, identifying emotional triggers, maintain a cool exterior, self-care, and more.
